ASP Reports Person Of Interest In Stone County Homicides

Arkansas State Police stated new leads in last week’s murders of four residents in Stone County has led investigators to a person of interest who has been placed in custody on unrelated charges.

On Thursday, the bodies of Shirley Watters, age 77, and her son, James Watters, age 55, were found deceased in their home. Both had been shot inside the house on Northcutt Road.

Later, the bodies of William Clinton Trammell, age 75, and his wife, Sharon, age 72, were found murdered, both shot at their home a short distance from the Watters residence south of Mountain View, in Stone County.

On Tuesday night, in a media release ASP said area residents should continue to be vigilant at their homes and while traveling through the area, but acknowledged the agency has not found any evidence to indicate an imminent threat related to this investigation.

The release also stated that investigators assigned to the case are continuing their investigative efforts and will keep the public updated with information related to the murder investigations.
