Bro. Howard Thomas Pankey, 84 of Imboden; passed away April 23, 2022, in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.
Born October 19, 1937, in Judsonia; son of the late, Roy Pankey and Callie Meharg. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Marie Martin on February 13, 1959. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a Baptist Minister, a Carpenter, and a Camp Administrator at the Cedar Glade Baptist Encampment in Imboden.
Bro. Pankey began preaching in the Old Walnut Ridge Baptist Church for a couple years, then moved to the Hoxie Baptist Church for eight years and he retired from preaching in the Ravenden Springs Baptist Church. He was a people person, and he loved children, influenced hundreds of campers with his kindness and strong Christian example. He enjoyed in his past time fishing, boating, camping, and RV-ing with his family.
He is preceded by his parents; his loving wife, Carolyn in 2013; one daughter, Merritt Pankey; one son, Jason Pankey; three infant children; and three sisters, Alice Calhoun, Ethel Davis, and Peggy Wolfe; and a grandson-in-law, Zachary Barton.
Survivors include his two sons, Howard Deshawn (Vivian) Pankey of Lynn and Terrell Lee (Kim) Pankey of Conroe, TX; two daughters, Rosalind (Frank) Casillas of Imboden and Denia (Jules) Rusinowski of Searcy; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 12 P.M. in the Bryan Chapel with Bro. Billy Ed Morris officiating. Pallbearers will be Barrett Thompson, Eli and Uriah Casillas, Jason, Ryan, and Nathan Pankey. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 P.M. till 8 P.M. in the Bryan Chapel.
