On March 14, 2022, an Izard County Deputy attempted to stop an orange Mitsubishi Eclipse on Highway 56 near the Sharp / Izard County line.
The vehicle fled from the officer and was
eventually stopped in Sharp County. Officers from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department, Izard County Sheriff’s Department, and the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force stopped the vehicle and attempted to arrest the driver, who resisted arrest but was ultimately placed into custody.
Officers located approximately 6 ounces of methamphetamines, $5,595 in U.S. Currency, several unidentified pills, and various Items of Drug Paraphernalia on or about the driver.
The driver Aaron Slayton, age 38, of Hardy, was arrested and was transported to the Sharp County Jail and is awaiting the filing of formal charges for Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, Possession of Oxycodone with the intent to deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Destruction of Evidence, and Fleeing. Izard County Sheriff’s Department will have charges on Slayton at a later date as well.
