The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two individuals on theft charges.
Jerri Platz, age 34 and Nicholas McCullar, age 36 allegedly pushed a stolen Chevrolet S-10 pickup behind a residence on US 167 outside of Evening Shade.
After entering a storage building to find a battery charger for the truck, Platz found a 2021 Dodge Challenger with keys in a detached garage according to authorities.
The two entered the vehicle with McCullar behind the wheel and took the vehicle to Jonesboro, where law enforcement pursued them through both Craighead and Poinsett Counties attempting to stop them.
Both suspects were arrested in Poinsett County after he and Platz attempted to hide the stolen vehicle behind a residence.
McCullar and Platz were arrested on charges with felony theft of property less than $25,000, felony breaking or entering, and misdemeanor theft by receiving more than $1,000.
McCullar’s had bond set at $25,000 cash only, while Platz’s bond was set at $45,000.
The two were returned to Sharp County.
