Less then 24 hours after a suspicious fire destroyed a large barn and several hundred round bales of hay, authorities have three suspects.
Three female juveniles were identified and sources say they’ve admitted to their part in the fire. The three unidentified female suspects are said to be each under the age of 14 years old.
Authorities with the Imboden Fire Department and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office worked to develop leads and identify the juvenile suspects.
The three were seen in the area shortly before flames became visible from the blaze.
Once identified, the parents/guardians of the three were contacted and the juveniles cooperated with authorities admitting to their role in the fire.
Imboden was paged to respond to the fire shortly after 10 pm. Black Rock, Pocahontas, Ravenden and Walnut Ridge Fire were all called to assist with the fire. No injuries were reported but the barn and its contents were a complete loss. Firefighters were on scene until nearly 2 am extinguishing the blaze.
Formal charges have not been filed yet but are expected in the coming days.
