Danny Ray Mitchell, loving father, husband, brother, and friend went to his heavenly home January 23, 2022. He was surrounded by his three daughters and his family.
Danny was born November 20, 1949, in Athens, Alabama to Riley Mitchell and Brooksie Brock Mitchell. He married Stella Due and served in the Army as a drill sergeant. Danny received a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam. He also worked in construction. Danny was a big man standing at 6’4, with an even bigger personality, who made an impact on everyone he met. He celebrated his heavenly birthday at the age of 72 and was a longtime resident of Pocahontas.
Danny always had a story to tell and never met a stranger. He was proud to be the father of three daughters, Tracy, Denise, and Samantha. He loved tinkering with old cars and was always searching for a treasure hidden at a yard sale or sitting in an old field. He had a big heart and always tried to help people, especially those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his wife Stella Mitchell; parents Riley Sr. and Brooksie Mitchell; brother Riley Mitchell Jr. and sister Eloise Reynolds.
He is survived by his children Tracy Denny (Roy Smith) of Van Buren, Denise Mitchell (Tony Thomas) of Mountain Home, and Samantha Mitchell (Chuck Kirkindall) of Pocahontas; grandchildren Charlie Guilliams, Christopher Sims, Noah Denny, Melody Sims, and Sebastian Sims; siblings Evangeline Roark of Little Rock, Donnie Mitchell of Decatur Alabama, Grady Mitchell of Tucson Arizona, Shirley Chambers of Decatur Alabama, and Billy Joel Reynolds of Athens Alabama.
Visitation service for Danny will be held 6:00 – 8:00p.m. Thursday January 27, 2022, in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday January 28, 2022, in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with Rickie Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirby Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Tony Thomas, Roy Smith, Charlie Guilliams, Christopher Sims, Noah Denny, Chuck Kirkindall, Red Oaks, and Ronnie McReynolds.
