Hwy 63 just outside Sedgwick was closed for over three hours after a series of events that began Monday evening.
Lawrence County Dispatch received a report of a three vehicle accident at with no reported injuries. Sedgwick Fire, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and medical units were dispatched to the scene.
As firefighters and law enforcement were diverting traffic around the initial accident scene, it was reported that Sedgwick Fire Chief Wes Adams was struck by a vehicle causing serious injury. A medical helicopter was landed on scene but the injured firefighter was transported to St. Benards Medical Center by MedicOne Ambulance.
Arkansas State Police were requested to investigate the incident.
Hwy 63 was closed to traffic by officials and diverted around the scene as officials investigated the incident.
Another two vehicle accident was then reported in the same area as officials were still on the scene of the first two accidents.
Hwy 63 was closed for several hours as authorities finished up all three accident investigations.
Units from Sedgwick Fire, Walnut Ridge Fire, Walnut Ridge Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police assisted with the scene.
