Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call from a male subject at 1:54pm advising he’d accidentally shot himself with a pistol in the stomach.
Strawberry Fire, ProMed Ambulance and Lawrence County Deputies were all dispatched to the area. The subject was stopped on the side of the highway in a F-250 truck near the Strawberry River Bridge.
A medical helicopter from Survival Flight was requested by medics to respond to the scene.
The medical helicopter landed at 2:25pm, the victim was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
The name of the victim has not been released by authorities at this time.
Dail’s Wrecker Service of Ravenden was requested to remove the vehicle.
The incident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
