Jackson County Man Sentenced To 175 Years

3rd Judicial Deputy Prosecutor John Pettie announced today the conviction of 50 year old George D. Bales of Newport on charges of Pandering/Possession of Child Pornography.

Bales was sentenced to 175 years in the Arkansas Department Of Corrections.

Pettie stated the charges stemmed from a joint investigation by the Newport Police Department and the Arkansas State Police.

Deputy Prosecutor Pettie went on to say “it is this type of diligent, coordinated, and team driven investigation that has led to a child predators being sentenced to hundreds of years in the Department Of Corrections just within the last month.”

“Prosecuting those that would seek to harm our children, remains the top priority of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.”

Pettie continued in his statement saying “Law enforcement and all others that seek to protect the most vulnerable among us, have my gratitude, my respect and my admiration. To all of you who fight that fight, Thank You.”
