Phillip Eugene Smith, 58 of Imboden departed this life on October 5th, 2021 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Phillip was born December 3, 1962 to James Robert and Jean Marie Carr Smith in Oskaloosa, IA. Phillip served in the Air Force during Desert Storm and received the Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit with 1 oak leaf cluster, Longevity Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Overseas Long Tour, and National Defense Service Medal. He was also a member of NRA. Phillip was a man of Methodist faith, loved his family, cherished the time spent with his children and his grandchildren. In his younger years he enjoyed rebuilding jeeps and playing in the mud. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and later enjoyed time spent fishing in Tampa Bay with family and friends and his lifelong Air Force brother Glen Blumire.
Phillip was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lester and Laura Carter Smith; maternal grandparents, John and Marianne George Carr; and Father James Robert Smith.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Haney Smith of the home; Mother Jean Marie Carr Bommert of Indianola, IA; stepmother Karen Smith of Pella, IA; daughter Gretchen Smith of Walnut Ridge; son Cody (Brynn) Smith of Hamilton, GA; grandchildren Andrew Cason, Adaline Grace, and Rhett Grady Smith all of Hamilton, GA; siblings Michael (Vielka) Smith of Crestview, FL., Sadowna and Mark Conarroe of Kansas City, MO., Daylin Van Dyk of Des Moines, IA., and Sam Van Dyk of Sarasota, FL.
There will be a 2:00p.m. memorial service Sunday, October 10, 2021 in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel.
