According to Stone County Chief Deputy Dammon McGilton, on Friday, September 3, 2021, at approximately 1:00 P.M., Officers with the Stone County Sheriff’s Department, Mountain View Police Department, 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas Highway Police, and Alcohol Beverage Control executed a search warrant at the Circle K Convenience Store located at 611 East Main Street in Mountain View. This search warrant was a result of a multi-county operation, named “Operation Short-Changed”. This operation targeted illegal gambling and money laundering. The operation began back in the early part of 2020, agents began working a Gambling Operation. The operation spread to two other counties. Searcy County and White County participated in the operation. Officers executed search warrants in two stores and a bait shop in Searcy, a store in El Paso, a store in Marshall, and the Mountain View Store. All locations were hit simultaneously by the many jurisdictions. The case is currently under investigation and other facts will be released at a later time.
