According to authorities an arrest has been made in a drive-by shooting incident that took place in Mammoth Spring on June 19th.
Mammoth Spring Police Department received information from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office pertaining to a shooting that occurred on Main Street near the Mammoth Spring Car Wash.
Authorities met with four females that will remain anonymous at the scene of the incident that stated they went to Harps Store in Thayer and a White Yukon followed them up Hwy 63 attempting to run them off of the roadway.
According to the females, once they crossed into Arkansas, the vehicle continued to pursue them to Main Street, then into the Mammoth Spring Car Wash.
The females said the suspect began yelling obscenities at the victims and then pulled out a handgun and fired the weapon above the vehicle, then fled back toward Missouri.
Investigators developed a suspect who had a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses. Authorities created a lineup where the victims positively identified the suspect as Richard Atkins of Myrtle, MO.
The victims also identified the vehicle involved in the shooting out of a different photo lineup.
A warrant for Richard Atkins age 39 of Myrtle, MO. was taken to the Fulton County Jail where he was booked and released on bond.
