After nearly a 7 month investigation, a Fulton County resident is charged after being shot and being involved in a shootout with his son on Christmas Eve.

Richard Garcia Sr., age 52, is charged with aggravated assault and 5 counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm according to authorities. Richard Garcia Sr. had his bond set at $100,000.

Authorities received reports of a man that arrived at the Fulton County Hospital being treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators from the Arkansas State Police and Fulton County Sheriff’s Office concluded that Garcia Sr. assaulted his son with a handgun and shot in the direction of his son’s home.

The son, in self defense according to investigators, grabbed a handgun and began firing at his father, hitting him several times.

The son will not face charges according to authorities Who concluded he was using self defense to protect him and others.
