At 10:08 pm Lawrence County authorities were notified of a pursuit on Hwy 62 involving a stolen vehicle. Pocahontas and Randolph County authorities pursued a stolen 2001 White Jeep Cherokee with two subjects in the vehicle. Speeds of 65-70 mph were reported as the pursuit entered the Imboden city limits, the pursuit then turned north toward Ravenden.
Lawrence County Deputies entered the pursuit at Imboden as the chase proceeded north on Hwy 63. Shortly after leaving Imboden units reported the vehicle driving into oncoming traffic. Ravenden officers were requested to deploy spike strips at the Spring River bridge.
At 10:19 pm Ravenden Police reported the subject hit the spike strips disabling the vehicle. At that time the suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot to the area of Elm Street. Arkansas State Police joined in the search and a drone was brought to the area to assist in the search. Authorities also stated the subject was in possession of a stolen hand gun.
At 10:46 pm, an individual armed suspect was reportedly in custody but the driver was still at large. A perimeter was set up and K-9 units were requested to the area.
Sources stated the two suspects were also reportedly involved in a robbery that occurred in Pocahontas where a firearm was taken from a residence at gunpoint.
At 11:54 pm the K-9 unit arrived on scene at Ravenden.
At 12:37 am units on scene reported the second subject was in custody. Both subjects will be taken back to Randolph County to face formal charges. Names of the suspects have not been released at this time by authorities.
