79 years ago, Isaac Parker was just 17 when he was killed while aboard the USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1941.
Parker was born and raised in Woodson, Arkansas, he left home and joined the Navy never returning back home.
Parker’s remains were buried this week in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery near his parents, sisters and brothers in St.Louis County Missouri.
Parker, a Navy Mess Attendant 3rd Class received full military honors on what would have been his 97th birthday.
Originally Parker was buried as an unknown at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency’s USS Oklahoma Project utilized samples of DNA from living relatives to identify Parker’s remains according to Navy Public Affairs.
