In Sharp County today, a construction worker was airlifted to an area hospital after jumping 20 feet off a bridge to avoid being struck by a semi-truck involved in a crash, according to authorities.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on Hwy 167 near Evening Shade.

Reports state a semi-truck, going south on Hwy 167, struck two vehicles in the accident and forced a construction worker, doing curb work in the area to jump from the bridge.

No other injuries were reported, the highway was closed as Arkansas State Police conducted their investigation.
