Chief Deputy Charley Melton of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department stated today that an ongoing investigation by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force into illicit drug activity has culminated in charges being filed against 30 individuals in and around Izard County.
Information developed from earlier arrests that resulted in the seizure of a collective amount of approximately 10 lbs. of methamphetamine and over $100,000 in drug proceeds aided in the current investigation. Hundreds of man hours of investigative effort were exhausted by Izard County Deputies and Agents with the 16th DTF in bringing these cases to fruition.
Although we recognize that total elimination of drug violations and their satellite crimes of domestic violence, property crimes, fraud, and vehicle accidents etc. are unlikely; it must remain our number one goal.
Chief Deputy Melton advises that the operation is far from over, but much like casting a net on the pond, it was just time to empty the net. Many names are on this list. At the same time many are not. On behalf of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the 16th DTF Chief Melton states “those absent from the list should be aware that time is on our side and we will see you soon.”

We want to thank the Arkansas State Police, 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Stone County Sheriff’s Office, Highway Patrol, ADC Probation and Parole, the Department of Correction Dog Team and Arkansas Game and Fish who assisted Izard County with Operation Quarantine Blues.
Our number one goal is to make Izard County safe for all citizens and that takes place by getting offenders off the street. At the same time, we want to help those who sincerely want to get their lives back on track, restore their families and become productive citizens. We see first-hand that the use of drugs leads to addiction, destruction of families and even death. The Izard County Sheriff’s Office currently has programs in place to help those candidates. Our Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program is actively helping people who are ready to make those changes with placement in facilities that will help them restructure their lives.
