Walnut Ridge Fire Chief Frank Owens announced his retirement from the fire department after serving as chief for over 10 years. Owens is a 28 year firefighter.
Owens will be leaving at the end of the month to pursue other interests and the current WRFD assistant chief Chris Jones will become the new Walnut Ridge Fire Chief and city inspector.
Chris Jones has been at the WRFD for 22 years. Jones also serves as a member of the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department.
