At 2:34pm in Friday a Lawrence County Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle on Hwy 367 near Minturn, the male rider refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. The turned on Hwy 228 toward Clover Bend and continued to flee at a high rate of speed.
Officers from the Walnut Ridge Police Department converged on the area hoping to intercept the suspect if he attempted to come back into Portia.
The suspect turned in Lawrence 532 then onto Lawrence 513 which happened to be a dead end road. Law enforcement found the abandoned motorcycle in a field at the end of the road but the suspect had fled. Officers from the Walnut Ridge Police Department tracked the suspect through the wooded area near the river for nearly a mile before losing his trail.
The subject was described as a white male, jeans, no shirt with a dark complexion.
The recovered motorcycle was found to have license plates belonging to a different motorcycle. Cook’s Towing of Walnut Ridge removed the motorcycle. The suspect is still at large.
