Authorities are calling last night’s fire at 202 Fairpark “suspicious “. The call began at 8:13pm for Imboden Firefighters after a 911 call reported smoke coming from the residence.

Fire Chief Jim Jones told us the Imboden Fire Department arrived within minutes with two engines and began an interior attack. According to Jones the blaze was contained to a bedroom in the duplex and was quickly under control. The bedroom sustained heavy damage but the structure was saved. The other rooms in the apartment did have heat and smoke damage also the second apartment in the duplex had some minor smoke damage.

No one was home in the apartment at the time of the fire but authorities did observe enough to call the fire suspicious and requested investigators from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division.

The area was sealed off around the fire Wednesday night and investigators were to arrive on Thursday.

No injuries were reported in the incident. We will continue to monitor this and update as information becomes available.
