Formal charges against 23 year old Xaveriana Cook of Lawrence County have been announced by federal authorities. Cook is charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive, possession of stolen firearms and transportation of stolen firearms in Mississippi. Cook was involved in an incident in Oxford Mississippi where murder suspect Hunter Carlstrom exited a vehicle and began firing at law enforcement officers striking Deputy Marshal Bob Dickerson twice. Officers returned fire in the daylight shootout killing 33 year old Carlstrom. Deputy Dickerson was taken immediately to an area hospital where he underwent life saving emergency surgery.
Deputy Marshal Dickerson was released from the hospital, greeted by Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker, members of Oxford Police, Mississippi Bureau Of Investigation and community members from the Oxford area as he left Baptist Hospital in Oxford. Deputy Dickerson will continue to recover at his home.
Hunter Carlstrom was wanted for questioning in a Lawrence County murder of James Sartorelli if Smithville. Sartorelli was shot in the head in early May, Carlstrom was developed as a suspect and US Marshalls were tracking the fleeing suspect and his girlfriend when Hunter Carlstrom opened fired on law enforcement in Mississippi. Carlstrom’s weapon was recovered at the scene, no word if ballistics has linked the weapon used in the Mississippi shootout with the Smithville murder of James Sartorelli.
