At 5:19 pm Black Rock Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Medic One and AET were paged to Hwy 63 at the rest area, 3 children are reported injured in the one vehicle crash.

Reports from the scene are that all are out of the vehicle but there are 4 injuries in total, a medical helicopter has been requested.

Survival Flight 9 out of Pocahontas is doing a scene flight. Responders are setting up a landing zone at the rest area on Hwy 63, expect delays.

Reports from the scene indicated 2 children have head injuries and one adult female is reported to have head injuries. A second helicopter has been requested from Survival Flight’s Batesville base.

Medical units checked in scene at 5:32 pm. At 5:42 pm the first of two helicopters landed at the landing zone and one patient was transferred from ambulance to flight medics. Additional ambulances from ProMed in Randolph County and Spring River Ambulance out of Sharp County were requested to the scene.

As of 5:45 pm traffic was halted to allow additional ambulances to arrive on scene.

At 5:54 pm the second helicopter landed on scene and was met with a second patient to be transported. Reports from the scene stated one juvenile and one adult female were being flown to area hospitals. ProMed Ambulance checked in route to St Bernard’s with one juvenile at 6pm.

Black Rock Fire and Lawrence County Deputies cleared the scene at 6:14pm.

The accident is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
