The Lawrence County coroner has been called to an accident scene in Portia, at 11:42 a.m. Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 63 in Portia.
Early reports stated one person was trapped in the vehicle and was unresponsive. Portia fire department, Walnut Ridge fire department, Arkansas State Police, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were all dispatched to the scene. Hwy. 63 was closed and a medical helicopter was requested from Survival Flight. Shortly after arrival the Lawrence County coroner was requested along with the Arkansas State Police.
As of 11:57 a.m. this is still an active scene. No information has been released by the Arkansas State Police concerning the names of injured or deceased as of yet. Expect delays if traveling through this area. We will update this article as information is released.
