At 9:08 am on Saturday the Black Rock Fire Department and ProMed Ambulance were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Hwy 63 near Lawrence 210. Emergency crews arrived to find 5 victims in a Ford Explorer in a wooded area. Black Rock requested the assistance of both Imboden Fire and Walnut Ridge Fire along with 3 medical helicopters and 2 additional ambulances to the scene.
Firefighters and medics worked for over an hour removing the victims trapped in the vehicle. 2 injured were transported to an area hospital by ambulance while 3 others were flown out by medical helicopters.
Highway 63 was closed for an extended period of time as rescue workers attended to those involved. Lawrence County Deputies along with Arkansas State Police also assisted with the scene.
The group was reported headed to Memphis after leaving a Boy Scout Camp in the Sharp County area. The accident is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
Highway 63 was opened back up upon around 10:40 am.
