Shortly after 3 am on Sunday morning the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire behind the First Baptist Church in Imboden.

 

Imboden Fire Department responded with is Engine 2 and Engine 6 along with several firefighters to the 200 block of North Virginia Street in Imboden. Once on scene firefighters had to run supply hoses across Hwy 63 to supply water to the trucks. Lawrence County Deputies closed the highway and assisted Imboden Fire with traffic control.

Firefighters encountered a live downed power line at the residence along with a gas meter on fire beside the residence. Entergy and CenterPoint were both requested to the scene. A medical unit from ProMed Ambulance was requested for standby at the scene.

 

Fire Chief Jim Jones stated the residence which was unoccupied was a total loss. Jones stated at 3:31 am that the fire was under control but firefighters would be on scene for a while.

 

At 4:17 am deputies with the Sheriff’s Office reopened Hwy 63 and normal traffic resumed. No injuries were reported in the fire, the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
