At 6:20pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a two vehicle accident with one of the vehicles flipping off the north bound side of the Black River bridge.
Portia Fire, Black Rock Fire, ambulances from Pro-Med and Medic One along with Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were all dispatched to the scene.
Witnesses stated that a passenger car traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into the back of a north bound pickup truck knocking the truck forward over 200 feet before it flipped over the guard rail and fell between 40 and 50 feet to the field below. The north bound truck was estimated to be traveling approx 45 miles per hour when it was struck by the female driver of the passenger car. 3 people involved in the accident were transported to area hospitals for what is being described as non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was back up for a short amount of time as the injured were removed from vehicles and transported to area hospitals, Walnut Ridge Police and Arkansas State Park Rangers assisted with traffic control. The incident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
