At 9:40 am on Friday, Lawrence County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a 67 year old male had fallen off a piece of farm equipment known as a spray rig.  Hoxie Fire Department, Medic One ambulance, Walnut Ridge Hazmat, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of 317 Lawrence 723.  Initial reports stated the victim was lying in the middle of the road covered in chemicals and hydraulic fluid that leaked from the equipment. Bono units advised they had two responders at the scene and told Lawrence County dispatch the machine had overturned.
The chemical was described as 2 4 D, hazmat crews arrived on scene and estimated that less than ten gallons of hydraulic oil and 2 4 D had leaked.  At 10:20 am Medic One ambulance transported the male victim to St. Bernard’s in Jonesboro. Walnut Ridge hazmat was cleared at 10:38am.
