The Wings of Honor Museum will host the 20th Annual Walnut Ridge Army Air Field Reunion and the Air Field’s 76th Anniversary Celebration. The event begins with a reception from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, with a dinner following at 6:00 catered by Mel Fender, recognition of veterans, special music and special guest speaker, Dr. Jared Dockery of Harding University. Meals will be provided for free to all Veterans, courtesy of Don and Fran Cavenaugh and Cavenaugh Auto Group, and the cost is $12 for non-veterans. On Saturday, May 5, a pilots’ Fly-in Breakfast, sponsored in part by the Walnut Ridge Airport, will be served from 7:30-9:30. The museum asks for a $7 donation. An FAA Safety Meeting will be held 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon for the pilots.
A Fish Fry will be held from 12:30-2:00 for the general public, but advance reservations are needed and cost is $10.
Static displays will be available and a flyover will be held following the fish fry at 2:00 including AT-6’s, PT-17 Stearman and possibly a PT-19. Area crop dusters will then do a flyover releasing red, white and blue smoke.
The Museum will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day for tours.
