Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced this week, the arrest of a Lawrence County man for crimes involving children. According to the Attorney General’s press release Terry Matheny, age 58 of Ravenden,was arrested by the cyber crimes unit on 30 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing of matter detecting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, a class C felony.
The Attorney General’s office with the assistance of Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office seized multiple electronic devices from the suspects home. Matheny was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention facility on April 17, 2018. Matheny received a bond hearing and bond was set for $50,000. Matheny is currently out on bond. The Attorney General’s office has stated a special deputy prosecutor will be assigned to this case.
