 James “Dexter†Yancy age 26 of Pocahontas waived his right to a jury trial and has pled guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of Nicholas Wayne Dawson in 2016.
Yancy claimed self-defense concerning the shooting that occurred during a fight between the two men. Â Yancy also said that he was under the influence of methamphetamines in statements given to law enforcement.
Yancy was sentenced to 36 months at the Arkansas Department of Corrections and a $1500 fine with a negotiated plea.
