The Great Arkansas Clean-Up At Davidsonville Historic State Park
December 2nd, 2017 from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.
Meeting Place: Visitor Center
Grab a coat and that warm fuzzy hat in your closet and join the staff of Davidsonville for an afternoon of spring cleaning in December. With the underbrush finally gone, volunteers are needed to delve into the wilder wooded sections of the park and collect trash that is harming the historic and natural resources of the park. Scout, Civic, and other organizations are encouraged to attend, and this is a great opportunity for students or others who need service hours for various causes.
We’ll provide the trash bags, gloves, awesome t-shirts (on a first come, first served basis), and keep you fueled up and warm with hot chocolate and other tasty snacks. RSVPs appreciated so the park has an approximate head-count prior to the day of. Grab your gear, bundle up, and we’ll see you in the park on December the 2nd!
No Christmas? No Problem!
December 16th, 2017 from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m.
Meeting Place: Visitor Center
No Christmas?! What a horrible thought! Come learn why Christmas wasn’t celebrated during (the town of) Davidsonville’s time. Park staff will explore the history of Christmas in Arkansas and tell Christmas stories from days of old with hot cider and chocolate along with festive cookies available around a roaring fire. This afternoon program is a great way to get the kids out of the house if parents need time to consult with the elves, stop by whenever you’d like between 1 and 3 for a snack, or stay longer for a few stories.
To learn more about these and other upcoming events call the park at 870-892-4708. Davidsonville Historic State Park is located fifteen minutes south of Pocahontas on Highway 166 South.
