Fires across Lawrence County have kept several departments on large fires prompting County Judge John Thomison to issue a county-wide Burn Ban.
Several fires in the Portia area required Hoxie Fire, Walnut Ridge Fire, Portia Fire, Clover Bend Fire and Arkansas Forestry to respond to the areas of Lawrence 511 and Lawrence 507.
Black Rock Fire was requested to the area of the Rest Area and County Shooting Range for a rekindled wild land fire that claimed a vacant house, several acres and hay stored in the area. Arkansas Forestry had just cleared the fire in Portia and reported to the Black Rock fire to assist.
Other fire departments including Alicia, Smithville, Lynn Fire and others have responded to several other fires around the county.
A BURN BAN has been issued for Lawrence County.
