At 11:50 am on Wednesday, Lawrence County Dispatch was notified of a pursuit by the Bono Police Department. A passenger car returning to a subject from Bono was fleeing from police and turned on highway 228 headed from Greene County back towards Sedgwick.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Yates, Lawrence County deputies, and Hoxie Police all headed towards Sedgwick in an effort to intercept the vehicle. Within moments officers in the pursuit relayed information that the suspect had intentionally attempted to crash the vehicle into the Cache river where it overturned.

Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department and AET Ambulance were requested to the scene.  The suspect escaped the vehicle crash and was attempting to swim the river. According to reports the suspect then alledgedly attempted to harm himself by hitting his own head with a rock.

At 12:06 pm the suspect was reportedly in custody and was requiring medical treatment, he was transported to St Bernards Medical Center at 12:25 pm.

No word on why the suspect was running, his identity hasn’t been released by law enforcement as of yet.
