Ravenden Fire Department Places New Rescue 1 Truck into Service

On Friday the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department placed new Rescue 1 truck delivered by Deep South into service.

The Rescue 1 Truck fills a void for a needed vehicle of this type according to the department. Grants acquired by the department accounted for about 2/3 the cost of the vehicle with the remainder of the funds coming from fund-raisers and Act 833 funds awarded to the department. Ravenden Fire Department also acknowledged help from former State Representative James Ratliff and current State Representative Fran Cavanaugh for their assistance.

Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department is faced with a unique district, the department has one of the busiest highways running through its district and covers 3 counties, Lawrence, Randolph and Sharp. Ravenden has a mutual aid agreement with the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department and has agreements with several other departments that do not have rescue tools for auto extrication.

This new truck allows for swift response and carries needed tools and fire fighting capabilities which in turn saves lives and property.

Congratulations to the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department for this great addition to their department.
