One man was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a one vehicle roll over on Hwy 412 East just outside Walnut Ridge on Friday.

At 1:07 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received several 911 calls reporting a roll over accident with injuries. Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and medical units from Medic One Ambulance and AET Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene.

Early reports stated witnesses thought the subject had been thrown from the overturned van, these reports turned out to be false. The victim had crawled from the wreckage and was outside the vehicle being assisted by citizens as medical crews arrived on scene. A medical helicopter from Survival Flight had originally been requested by medics but was cancelled after the victim was examined by medics on scene.

The injured male was transported by Medic One at 1:27 pm to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment, injuries were described as serious but not life threatening.

Traffic was completely shut down until Cook’s Wrecker Service of Walnut Ridge arrived on scene to remove the wrecked van. The van came to rest on the drivers side and had to be turned over before removal.

Arkansas Highway Department arrived on scene to examine the damaged guard rail.

The accident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

Hwy 412 East was reopened to traffic at 1:53 pm.
