At 12:26 pm on Thursday Lawrence County Dispatch received several calls reporting a semi truck hauling sand overturned after failing to negotiate a curve on Hwy 25 between Lake Charles State Park and Lynn. Initial reports stated the driver was trapped in the overturned semi and had what appeared to be serious injuries.

Lynn Fire was paged and responded with 2 rescue trucks along with AET Ambulance, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police. Rangers from the Arkansas State Parks responded to assist with traffic, Hwy 25 was completely closed.

Lynn Fire Department requested assistance from the Walnut Ridge Fire Department, officials stated air bags were going to be needed to lift the truck while the victim was extricated from the wreckage. Dail’s Wrecker Service was also requested to the scene to assist with stabilizing the vehicle as rescue workers attempted to remove the injured driver.

A helicopter from Survival Flight was requested to the scene and landed at 1:26 pm after fire fighters set up a landing zone in a field near the accident, The patient was extricated at 1:30 pm and packaged up for flight to an area hospital.

Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services was on scene to assist with the accident. Black Rock Fire Department was paged and requested to assist with detouring traffic at Hwy 25 and 117 spur and Hwy 25 at Black Rock. Crews from the Arkansas Highway Department also responded to assist with road clean up.

Survival Flight lifted at 1:38 pm in route to an area hospital for treatment of injuries to UAMS Hospital. No names have been released in the accident, Arkansas State Police are investigating the incident.

At 1:41 pm Hwy 25 was still closed and expected to be closed for some time as the vehicle and its contents are removed from the roadway.
