2017 graduates who received the Lawrence County Fair Scholarship are as follows…
Hillcrest- Meredith Helms
Sloan-Hendrix- Samuel Light, Tyler Murphy, and Colby Johnson
These graduates participated in the Lawrence County Fair for three years or more to qualify for the Lawrence Cou ty Fair Scholarship. They also created cookie jars that were auctioned off to fund the scholarship. Each recipient received $500 this year.
The Lawrence County Fair Cookie Jar Decorating Contest funds the scholarship. The cookie jars are auctioned during the fair, and all proceeds will go to the fair scholarship fund.
Cookie Jars should be glass or clear plastic wide mouth 1/2 or gallon size, and decorated (any theme)
The decorated cookie jar should be filled with homemade or good quality purchased cookies. The judging will be based on the decoration and attractiveness of the jar and cookies.
Jars will be judged and left on display in the exhibit building during fair week.
Children who would like to auction their cookie jar off must be present at the auction.
Note: To be eligible for a Lawrence County Fair Scholarship a child must have entered or participated in a fair activity in three of the last five years.
