Lawrence County was hit Saturday night with a large storm system. At the present time we are dealing with flooding in the low lying areas, mainly on the eastern side of the county.

Reports are coming in of flooded county roads and some state highways covered with water. A tornado watch was issued at 1:11 am in the Hoxie/ Walnut Ridge area. Walnut Ridge and Hoxie tornado sirens were activated and evacuation centers were opened. No damage or injuries were reported from that incident.

Walnut Ridge Police and Fire departments are dealing with several flooded intersections. Reports are coming in of high water on Highway 412 but as of 10:00am it was still open.

Highway 115/117 at the Jesup intersection is closed.

We also have reports of several county roads closed in the Clover Bend area due to high water.

1st Street in Ravenden is not passable.

Highway 90 between Ravenden and Pocahontas is closed.

The bridge on County Road 216 near Black Rock is damaged and nearly impassable.

Hwy 25 between Black Rock and Powhatan is closed.

According to the City of Walnut Ridge: The following roads have been closed due to rising water:
County Road 438 (Old Walnut Ridge Road)
County Road 434 (Brushes Drive)
County Road 429 (Luther Bridges Road)
County Road 428 (Skil Road)
County Road 447 (north end of Colonial Drive)
