Walnut Ridge Police Chief Chris Kirksey confirms that a 12 year old boy was bitten by a dog on Thursday in Walnut Ridge. The incident occurred on the 300 Block of Cammie Drive on Thursday night as the child played in the yard around 6:45 pm.

The victim was found to have serious injuries to both legs, the dog had escaped it’s kennel through a hole and entered the next yard encountering the child. The child was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The dog was taken to a local animal clinic to be put down, testing of the deceased animal will be conducted to be checked for rabies.

The owner of the animal was given three citations for violating the City of Walnut Ridge’s Dog Ordinance, charges were no proof of vaccinations, dog at large and not registering the dog with the city.
