Sheriff Deputies are on the scene of an active situation right now on Lawrence 221 outside Black Rock, details are still emerging as the events are still on going.
At 8:15 am on Saturday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call from 188 Lawrence 221 in Black Rock reporting a female being stabbed and the suspect fleeing into another residence at 176 Lawrence 221.
Black Rock Fire, AET Ambulance, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police were all dispatched to the area. Once on scene, the victim was taken by ambulance to the Black Rock Rest Area where a medical helicopter from Survival Flight was sent to transport the injured victim. The helicopter airlifted the victim to an area hospital for treatment of wounds.
As officers arrived at the residence the suspect fled into they reported hearing what they believed to be a single gunshot. Officers surrounded the residence and began making attempts to contact the person inside.
A second ambulance was staged at the Clear Springs Baptist Church as officers continued to attempt to make contact with the suspect. Additional deputies along with Sheriff Jeff Yates arrived on scene as efforts continued to reach the suspect inside the home.
At 9:08 am entry was made into the residence by law enforcement where the suspect was found deceased in the residence. The Lawrence County Coroner was called to the scene.
No names of either the victim or suspect have been released at this time, the investigation is still ongoing and the area is still considered an active crime scene.
Unconfirmed reports from witnesses stated the victim was stabbed with some type of a sword and the suspect was acting erratic and making claims to be “God” as the events unfolded at the scene.
