Around 4 pm on Saturday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting an 8 year old child that had a large grave stone fall on top of him.
Lynn Fire Department, AET Ambulance and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church on Lawrence 318 just outside of Lynn.
The 8 year old boy had been attending a birthday party at the church when the accident happened. Reports from the scene stated the boy had been playing on the grave stone when it broke, falling on the victim. A medical Helicopter from Survival Flight was requested to the scene.
Lynn Fire and AET were notified that family members had started CPR on the child, the victim was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead at the hospital.
Lawrence County Criminal Investigation Division was dispatched to the scene but according to Detective Andrew Turner there was no foul play just a tragic accident.
The name of the victim was not released pending notification of the victims family.
