At 11:43 am on Friday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a report of a rollover accident with a victim unconscious and the vehicle on fire. The accident was on Hwy 63 just north of Lawrence 208. Dispatchers immediately paged Black Rock Fire Department, Imboden Fire Department and AET Ambulance to the scene. Black Rock Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police also responded to the accident.

Witnesses on the scene stated that several motorist stopped to assist the injured person still trapped in the vehicle. Black Rock Police was among the first to arrive on scene, the subject was removed from the vehicle and transported to a Jonesboro hospital for treatment of injuries but we were just updated that the victim was transferred to a Memphis hospital around 1:30 pm.

Traffic was backed up for nearly 2 hours as the vehicle was removed and a flatbed trailer hauling material which spilled it’s load on the highway. No word as to the trailer’s involvement in the accident. Black Rock Firefighters maintained one lane of traffic as the debris was removed.
