Walnut Ridge Police Chief Chris Kirksey shared a post from his personal page warning residents about the upcoming holiday season and the crimes that can along with it.
Chief Kirksey reminded everyone that unfortunately during the season a rise in thefts and vehicle break ins occurs.
According to Kirksey beginning Monday his department had several reports of vehicles being broken into in the Walnut Ridge area where no force was used to gain entry. Unfortunately this is more common when vehicles are left unlocked.
Kirksey advised to lock doors to vehicles and residences especially at night, these simple things may prove to be the difference in whether you become the victim of a crime.
Other tips include: Don’t leave purses or hand bags in unattended vehicles, remove electronics from plain sight, never leave cell phones in your vehicle while unattended (statistics show this is one of the most stolen items from vehicles) . Always lock your vehicle and residence. And if you see something, REPORT IT.
We appreciate Chief Chris Kirksey for sharing his thoughts, thoughts that may better your holiday season!
