After a long evening at the Lawrence County Courthouse, Democrats now have the nomination for the Lawrence County Judge’s position following the passing of Judge Dale Freeman.
In an unofficial result of 156 to 106 John Thomison defeated Mary Freeman in the secret ballot vote held tonight at the Lawrence County Courthouse.
At 6:30 nominations were opened for the position and Mary Freeman was nominated from the floor first closely followed by a nomination for John Thomison. After committee members and lawyers for the democratic committee explained to those in attendance how the proceedings would work, ballots were given to those who had identification and did not vote in the Republican Primary.
Ballots were read aloud and then committee members tallied the votes with the unconfirmed vote announced at the end of the proceedings announcing the nominee for the Democratic Party being John Thomison.
