Local swimmer Dalton Cooper, son of Ryan and Nikki Cooper of Imboden competed in the 50th Annual Jr. Olympics held in Houston Texas completing multiple swimming events.
Dalton competed in 6 different events beginning July 28th and ending July 31st, Dalton swam a total of 11 times during the competition. 30 swim teams with over 550 members competed at the event representing teams from New England to Hawaii. Swimmers were awarded medals for finishing 1st through 8th place and ribbons for 9th through 16th place. Swimmers finishing 1st through 16th earned points for their teams.
Dalton Cooper entered and competed in the 400 meter freestyle, 50 meter butterfly, 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter backstroke, 100 meter butterfly and 100 meter freestyle. Each event had a preliminary round and final round except the 400 meter freestyle which is a timed event.
Dalton Cooper earned a 5th place medal in the 400 meter freestyle, 14th place ribbon in the 50 meter butterfly, 16th place ribbon in the 50 meter freestyle, 15th place in the 100 meter backstroke, 9th place ribbon in the 100 meter butterfly and 13th place ribbon in the 100 meter freestyle. Dalton finished an amazing 3rd place in points for his conference, the South Wind Conference.
