At 8:34 pm on Sunday the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department was paged by the Lawrence County Dispatch to respond to the 2200 block of VanWinkle Road in Randolph County after reports of a 2 year old being bitten by a dog.

A medical helicopter was called for as medical units from both Lawrence and Randolph counties responded with firefighters to the area. Once on scene the decision was made to direct the helicopter to a landing zone in Imboden.

Firefighters assisted the ambulance crew with transporting the patient to the landing zone established at the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department. At 9:10 pm it was reported the helicopter was on the ground at Imboden.

Initial reports from Randolph County indicated the child was bitten on the face by a pit bull, Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies were in route to the residence to investigate the incident.

The helicopter lifted from Imboden at 9:30 pm in route to an area hospital, no word on the extent of injuries to the minor child.
