Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce announced today that he has amended the charging information for Jason Charles Bloomfield, 35, of Maynard, a Level 4 sex offender. Level 4 sex offenders are assigned this classification by the Arkansas Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment division of the Arkansas Department of Correction.
Bloomfield was charged initially with one count of Sexual Indecency with a Child, a Class D Felony. Class D felonies in Arkansas carry up to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. Bloomfield’s charges were upgraded by Boyce today to two counts of Attempted Rape from an incident which occurred in Pocahontas on September 29, 2015. Additionally, Boyce has charged Bloomfield as a habitual offender which subjects him now to a potential sentence of 100 years in the ADC on the charges. Boyce said “When this man was initially arrested last Fall I was not aware of the extent of his actions. In the course of preparing for trial I personally reviewed the case and interviewed the victim and decided that, in light of his previous history, more serious charges were justified. It has only been two and a half years since this man was released from prison for the exact same type of conduct.â€
