At 11:21 am on Tuesday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a semi truck leaving the highway nearly overturning on Hwy 63 near Lawrence 514 in Hoxie.
Hoxie Police and the Hoxie Fire Department responded to the scene, Walnut Ridge was paged for assistance as well. Chief Chris Ditto arrived on scene at reported that the driver was out of the semi and walking around, he also stated the truck was still upright but could turnover.
Arkansas Highway Police were notified and traveled to the scene to investigate the accident. The driver of the truck was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for a drug/alcohol test.
Ray J’s Wrecker Service was requested to the scene. According to Chief Ditto the truck was hauling 80,000 pounds of fertilizer. The truck belonged to a Corning trucking company, no spillage was reported in the incident.
Firefighters were on scene assisting with traffic as the truck was removed from the roadway ditch.
