Brenten Lee Cox, a 10-year-old true champion of his time, was born September 30, 2005 and went on to be celebrated in Heaven on March 7, 2016.

Brenten was the middle child to his biggest fans and parents, Freddie and Delores (Russell) Cox. He was continually kept on his toes by his younger sister Brianna and was always under the watch and protection of his older brother, Braden.

Brenten loved watching and participating in sports which included baseball and basketball. He served as assistant coach of the Sloan-Hendrix 5th grade boys pee-wee basketball team, and was a member of the Sloan-Hendrix Sr. High boys basketball team.

Brenten was diagnosed in June of 2015 with DIPG, a rare brain tumor. He and his family would continue the next 9 months living life to the fullest by taking many memorable family trips, getting to meet Lebron James, and picking up a following fan club of Red Wolves athletes and local sports teams. Brenten was celebrated greatly in his life and will continue to be as he is remembered as a true fighter, a believer in Christ whose faith never wavered, and whose quick wit never tired.

Remaining to celebrate Brenten’s life here are his loving and devoted parents, Freddie and Delores (Russell) Cox of Ravenden Springs; co-champion siblings, Braden and Brianna Cox of the home; grandparents Freddie Cox of Ravenden Springs, Donna Guthrie of Pocahontas, Robert and Linda Russell of Ravenden Springs and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Brenten leaves behind a huge fan club including best of friends Karson Roark, Logan Hill and Gage VanWinkle, as well as his entire 4th grade class.

Honered to serve as pallbearers are members of the Sloan-Hendrix Sr. High boys basketball team: Colby Johnson, Matthew Wilkins, Tyler Murphy, Ben Meigs, Brantley Gholson and Carter Vance.

Services will be at Sloan-Hendrix School Gymnasium. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
