On January 6, 2016 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to an incident in the Lynn area where a male subject had assaulted his girlfriend, set fire to their residence and fled the scene.
During that time a silver 2005 Ford truck was taken from a residence a short distance from the crime scene. Evidence found during the investigation pointed to the suspect from the domestic incident, Donnie Owens, as being the person who took the truck.
After receiving information that Owens was spotted in Lake County, TN driving the vehicle investigators stayed in contact with Tennessee authorities in an attempt to locate Owens and take him into custody.
On January 12, 2016 investigators were contacted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department in Tennessee advising that the stolen vehicle had been recovered. Lake County advised that early that morning they had located Owens driving the truck and attempted to stop him. A pursuit then ensued with Owens eventually wrecking the truck in a field and fleeing on foot. A short time later Owens stole an ATV from a residence close to the crash site and fled officers once again. The vehicle stolen from Arkansas was a total loss and remains in Lake County, TN at the Sheriff’s Department impound yard.
Donnie Owens was able to evade officers and is still being sought on charges stemming from the original incident on the 6th, the theft of the vehicle as well as multiple charges in Tennessee.
